New Public Management: Master Key to Good Governance

Abstract

Public Management (NPM) provides foundations to the concept of good governance and has aimed at entrepreneurial role of public organizations a market-based public administration resulting in effectiveness and economy in the functioning of public organizations. It is believed that the goals of good governance can be achieved by application of the principles of New Public Management. The New Public Management was more radical in redefining the role of public administration among all the schools since 1950s. New Public Management (NPM) is a management approach that seeks to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of public sector organizations.
